Letter to Sam Hirsh

Edgar Miller
1957
Colored ink on parchment
H 36, W 25 cm

This letter, artistically laid out in impeccable calligraphy, was written by Edgar Miller and addressed to a good friend of his, Sam Hirsh. In the letter, Miller shares a dreamed vision in which he theorized about humanity's common nature and looked towards its future. Hirsch was a close friend and someone Miller kept up a regular correspondence with on all matters of art and philosophy. Miller was a person who saw himself as a life-long learner who was always grasping for a grand, unified vision of nature, society, and individual humans' roles in it.
