The work of preserving Edgar Miller’s art and design has been a generational project. Beginning in the 1980s, Mark Mamolen and a collaborating team of Miller fans and artisans began to restore many of Miller’s incredible handmade homes while conserving the remnants of Edgar Miller’s prolific work and story. Prior to his death in 2013, Mamolen began to discuss with family and friends his ideas for stewarding Edgar Miller’s legacy.

In 2014, Mamolen’s family helped to found the 501(c)3 arts and cultural education organization Edgar Miller Legacy with a mission to preserve and steward Miller’s work and history. Over its first ten years, Edgar Miller Legacy has shared the work and story of one of Chicago’s great artistic geniuses with a community of thousands worldwide. We have developed a research archive, virtual learning resources, and educational programs, all of which will help Edgar Miller Legacy share Miller’s creative spirit for decades to come.

In this celebration video, current and founding board members and advisors, Bob Horn, Lisa Stone, Julie Mamolen Bleicher, and Clinée Hedspeth share their memories and thoughts about Edgar Miller and his important legacy, and how it has been stewarded and strengthened by Edgar Miller Legacy over the past ten years.

Edgar Miller Legacy thanks everyone in our community for supporting our mission over the past ten years. We look forward to many more to come!
