Plate with animal “parade” design - Edgar Miller - 1960 - Edgar Miller Legacy Archive
Pair of plates, “Parade of Animals” design
Edgar Miller
1959, 1960
Painted and glazed porcelain
Diameter: 27 cm
Edgar Miller produced hundreds, if not thousands, of hand-painted plates, bowls, teacups and other ceramics over the decades, mostly as gifts to friends and family, but also for sale from time to time, especially in his early years when he ran his own gallery. These similarly designed plates depict a parade of animals of all varieties crossing from one side to the other in a beautifully organized manner. One has a small band of writing inscribed to the rim, addressing the gift from the family to the Miller’s youngest son: “From Edgar + Dale + Ladd to Norman Dale Miller -Christmas- 1959”.
